イベント概要☆本イベントは11/4(水)に実施するG-SFIA2026(Global Space Financial Innovation Alliance)のサイドイベントです

Space for Green Finance: Space for Green Finance — How Space Data Is Shaping the Future of Green Investment and Sustainability
G-SFIA 2026 Side Event / Seminar

Earth observation (EO) and other space-derived data are becoming central to decisions on climate resilience, infrastructure and sustainable finance. Japan hosts one of the most mature EO ecosystems in Asia, and a fast-growing group of startups is applying satellite data across agriculture, disaster management, infrastructure and more.

Yet the policy and finance communities that most need this data often engage with the space sector too late, or only through a narrow environmental lens.

In this seminar, three companies that turn satellite data into business each answer two questions in sequence: What decision does the data unlock? And what financial instrument or investment case does it enable? Green finance and sectoral decision-making are treated as a single continuum, not as two separate themes.

The discussion is moderated by the Centre for Sustainability and Resilience at the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI). Held the day after the G-SFIA flagship conference on November 4, the seminar is co-organized by ESPI and FINOLAB and carries that conversation into a focused, sector-by-sector discussion.

◆ What you will take away

How satellite data is changing decisions in agriculture, forestry and infrastructure
How that data connects to finance — carbon credits, ESG reporting and the prioritization of public investment
Sectoral priorities, heard directly from international policy perspectives
Connections that can lead to concrete next steps, from pilot projects to financing conversations

◆ Who should attend

Professionals in ESG, sustainable finance, insurance or investment at financial institutions and fintech companies
Policymakers and public officials in government, municipalities and international organizations
Anyone interested in business applications of satellite data or in space × finance
